About the Instructor

Since 2005 Mary has been dancing, teaching, researching, and performing Argentine tango, which she has studied privately with renowned masters in Buenos Aires, Berlin, and around the U.S.* She has taught and performed tango at Harvard University, Tufts University, The New England Tango Academy, The Boston Tango Festival, the Albuquerque Tango Festival, Montango (Montreal), Phynix Studio (Berlin, Germany), and elsewhere. She is a full professor at UMass Boston, where she regularly teaches college courses in Argentine Tango dance and culture, one of the only college credit courses on the subject in the U.S. Locally, she offers musicality workshops to Providence Tango.

Her musical training is extensive. As a flutist and performing artist, she has appeared in Boston’s Symphony Hall, New York’s Lincoln Center, Washington’s Coolidge Auditorium, and hundreds of other venues with leading orchestras and chamber ensembles in the U.S. and abroad.
